Kitchen Science Class Kit
Grades 7-10.
Students can explore the chemistry behind standard ingredients used in baking and learn how different preparation methods using the same ingredients affect the textures and flavors of foods. Perform experiments to explore physical and chemical properties of starches, sugars, proteins, and yeast, making comparisons by collecting and graphing quantitative data. Kit includes enough materials for 24 students working in groups of four. Required but not included: scale, Bunsen burner, hot plate, or stove top.
