STEM Sports’ turnkey kits and curriculums use popular sports and real-life application to drive STEM-based learning in classrooms, after-school programs, and camps.
The popular Multi-Sport program for grades K–2 introduces motor skills, spatial awareness, and movement patterns and a variety of 21st century skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and leadership. Students will learn the science of sports in new and unique ways, such as:
- Determining which soccer drills increase and decrease the speed of the ball
- Learning about the Engineering Design Process (EDP) by designing their very own basketball shoes
- Playing catch and finding the ideal distance between players using the scientific method
- Seeing how the force of their golf swing relates to accuracy and precision
The STEM supplemental curriculum includes 8 lessons, 2 each about soccer, football, basketball, and golf, providing a minimum of 16 hours of instruction that includes physical activity. The 5E sequenced lessons all align to NGSS, CCSS, and/or National Standards for K–12 Physical Education, and many include worksheets. The program is easily scalable for teachers, administrators, and even volunteers.
The program is available in 3 options:
- Multi-Sport Full Kit: Includes the curriculum manual and all the reusable sports equipment and science supplies needed to fully implement the program
- Multi-Sport Kit Without Sports Equipment: Includes the curriculum manual and all the reusable science supplies needed
- Multi-Sport Curriculum Manual Only: No sports equipment or science supplies included
