The Nasco Clinometers and Water Rockets Unit engages students in hands-on learning that blends math, science, and engineering concepts. This integrated STEM activity allows students to explore trigonometric measurement, controlled experimentation, and data analysis while launching and tracking water-powered rockets. Using clinometers, students measure angles of elevation and apply real-world math skills to calculate altitude, test variables, and analyze results. The lesson promotes teamwork, critical thinking, and data-driven problem-solving as students design experiments that connect physics and mathematics in an exciting, interactive way.
Includes materials for 30 students (10 groups of 3):
- 20 clinometers (2 per group)
- 20 water rockets (2 per group)
- 10 measuring tapes (1 per group)
- Digital teacher guide with student data sheets
The unit requires 10 to 30 calculators, which are not included.Â
