Seed Structure and Enzyme Action

Grades 6-12.

Interactive experiment focusing on the structure of dicot and monocot seeds. Examine and dissect dicot and monocot seeds, then diagram and label seed structure. Observe the action of enzymes in the germination process and the fate of each part of the germinating process. Gain an understanding of the enzymatic process in a fun and educational manner. Contents include 3 bottles of Lugol’s solution, 3 drop-controlled bottles of diastase solution, 3 droppers, 30 plastic pics, 3 drop-controlled bottles of starch suspension, 1 package of lima beans, 1 package of corn seeds, 30 razor blades, 60 glass slides, 30 worksheets and guides, and 1 guide with MSDS.
