Strawbees® STEAM Starter Kit with micro:bit
Grades 3-9 Give students more possibilities when exploring robotics in the classroom. This bundle includes supplies that students can add to their robotics toolbox so they have more capabilities to build, program, and play.
Every student will have what they need to build physical, mechanical projects that are interactive through programming while developing creative thinking skills. Have students play and program hardware using the micro:bit and individually program its buttons, inputs and outputs, accelerometer, magnetometer, and Bluetooth Smart Technology.
The projects that students build will easily connect to Strawbees® connectors and straws. The connectors and straws are color-coded, making it easy to follow activity instructions. All of the parts in this bundle are durable and reusable. Simply disassemble and begin a new project.
Bundle includes:
- Strawbees STEAM Starter Kit: A personal sized building set with 230 pieces to make small towers, moving mechanical cranes and arms. Set comes with five different precut straw sizes and four color-coded connectors. All materials are durable and reusable. Includes activity guide.
- Robotic Inventions for the micro:bit: Build and code robots that move. Use this kit to snap the micro:bit with physical Strawbees® buildings and programming mechanical structures with servo motors. Use as a way to create physical interaction with projects.
- BBC micro:bit: A powerful handheld, fully programmable computer designed by the BBC and a number of partners to encourage students to get actively involved in writing software and building new things that will be controlled by it. Students write code using one of the easy-to-use editors on microbit.org, connect their BBC micro:bit board to a computer via USB, then press the compile button in the editor and drop the downloaded file directly onto their micro:bit.
