Give students an amazing robotic buddy to build and control! They'll learn about the history of robotics and real-word roving explorers and humanoid robots and gain valuable hands-on experience in physics, engineering, and computer science with this kit from the award-winning Thames & Kosmos Robotics: Smart Machines line.
Students will have all the materials and instructions they need to build the four-wheeled rover or the two-wheeled robot Sidekick. As soon as it's assembled, students can begin programming its movements directly on a built-in keypad. They can transform Sidekick into its other mode any time they want!You can also download the free Sidekick app to unlock all of Sidekick's capabilities. With the app, students will be able to control its movements, sounds, and even facial expressions. They can code programs for Sidekick using an easy visual interface or the simulator, which are both included in the app.
Sidekick can even play music and dance. Kids can choose from several styles of music and watch their Sidekick bust a move. Sidekick's microcontroller the robot's brain
has separate inputs for LED lights, a speaker, two motors (left and right), a battery, and an infrared sensor that helps it know where it is in the included maze game.
This kit includes 129 pieces and a 36-page guide. Models require 4 AA
batteries. Tablet or smartphone required to use Sidekick app (available for iOS and Android devices).
