Thames & Kosmos Water Power: Rocket-Propelled Cars, Boats, and More
Grades 3–9
Make a splash into physics with 6 air-and-water-powered models that use the same technology as the oldest pipe organs and the newest rocket ships.
Students will have all the materials and instructions they need to build a rocket car, water car, cargo barge, speedboat, lawn sprinkler, and water gun.
To make each model go, they'll first pump air into the rocket to increase the air pressure inside. Then, they'll get out of the way and release the clamp allowing the air and water mixture to shoot out and propel the rocket.
As students assemble and experiment, they'll learn about the physics of action-reaction forces, rocket propulsion, nature's rockets, compressed air, pneumatics, the differences between air and water, and why their rockets need both to go fast.
Kit includes 47 pieces and a 32-page guide. No batteries or electricity required.
WARNING: Choking Hazard. Small Parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.
