CORI Mini Sail Car Classroom Kit
Grades 2–8
Lets go sailing! Explore wind power and sharpen problem-solving abilities with this classic engineering project. This kit includes enough materials for 12 students working alone or 24 students working in pairs to make mini catapults. After building, you can test out sail cars on a windy day outdoors or indoors with hair dryers.
Each CORI kit is designed to engage students in the learning process with building projects that unleash creativity and promote application of practical STEM skills.
Developed and tested by educators and engineers, projects are created with simple, high-quality building components designed to be space-saving, time-efficient, and budget-friendly. The highlight is the CORI cardboard beams, which ship flat (in sheets) and easily fold into strong, lightweight structural elements.
This kit includes materials for 1224 students, plus a few extra components:
- 24 CORI beams with tape
- 38 wood dowels
- 16 wood dowel pins
- 52 wood wheels
- 55 snap-in dowel brackets
- 12 paper sails
The only other supplies you need are scissors and glue. We recommend using a hot glue gun because of the fast drying time.
You can also supply some art and craft supplies and encourage students to enhance and personalize their creations.
WARNING: Choking Hazard. Small Parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.
